What gets done on a water loss
Standing water does not stay where you found it. It climbs drywall, sits in the pad, and hides in the cavity. The crew scheduled on the call is there to get it out and leave the structure dry.
Air movers and dehumidifiers
Structural drying
After the standing water is gone, air movers and dehumidifiers stay until the framing, the subfloor, and the cavities are actually dry. A wet room that looks dry still grows mold.
Water you cannot see from the street
Basements and slabs
A basement, a crawl space, or a slab leak holds water under the house. Extraction starts there, then the drying is aimed at the assemblies that stayed wet.
Sewage and drain backups
Contaminated water
A toilet overflow, a washing-machine discharge, or a drain backup is not clean water. Those losses are extracted, removed, and treated as contaminated.

Readings
Moisture meters and a drying log show what was wet, what was removed, and when the structure came back to dry. That record is what an adjuster can use. Weller does not negotiate the claim.

Furniture is blocked or moved so the floor can be extracted and dried. Photographs are taken before anything is discarded. Nothing gets thrown out on a guess.

How the water usually got in
The source decides what comes out of the house. These six are the ones dispatch hears.
- Burst supplyA line, an angle stop, or a hose that let go. Clean water, often still running when you find it.
- Water heaterA tank or a hose in a garage, a closet, or a basement. The water is usually hot, and it pools on the slab.
- Slab leakHot water under the concrete that has already come through the floor. The room is warm before the puddle is obvious.
- ApplianceA washer, a dishwasher, an ice line, or an overflowed tub. The water is in one room and moving toward the hall.
- SewageA toilet or a drain that came back into the house. Treat it as contaminated from the first step.
- Roof openingRain coming through a failed roof into the ceiling. In Maryland that repair can be scheduled on the same dispatch.
